CO2 concentration in a soda can?

How can you determine the concentration of CO2 in a soda can using just a balance and a graduated cylinder (and a calculator)?

A hint given is that soda cans are over-pressurized with CO2 and not filled all the way to the top.

take the mass of the closed soda can

open it and either let it go flat over the night, degas it via vacuum, or boil off the gas

mass the soda without the CO2 present (degassing will remove the CO2)

the mass difference will be the mass of the CO2 present

    mass CO2 / 44g/mole = moles CO2 present

    moles CO2 / volume soda = molarity of CO2
