Why would Christians wants non-Christians to read their Bible?

I have come across several occasions Christians challenging non-Christians to read the Bible to "know the truth".

Before I read the Bible, I didn't think too much of it. If it makes Christians a good person, bravo for them. But after I read the Bible, my impression of it changed totally. It portrays God as an angry, egotistical, and often-time cruel being. The Bible itself contains many contradictions and ambiguities that opens it to many different interpretations resulting in different Christians denominations and cults.

Of course there are passages in the Bible that are wonderful to read but then there are just as many bad things written in it. I find it incredible that there are Christians who still claims that the Bible is perfect after reading it. I know of some Christians who questions the Bible privately but chose to put faith before understanding.

Far better it is for Christians not to invite non-Christians to read the Bible. This way, non-Christians will not view the Bible with contempt.

Well, you hit the head on the nail. For whatever reason, they find inspiration in it & manage to gloss over the not so nice parts and as such want you to read it and be 'saved'.

I'll warrant a good number of them haven't read most of the book... and for those who have, I'd REALLY like to understand how they reconcile their beliefs with one another.

I am not Christian but believe in the Bible teachings.I think it is the demand of time we should follow the good sayings which are coming from religions .

About God we must understand that it is a formless or super consciousness so in that point of view all thoughts which believe or ascribe form of God can never be accepted.Religions have their hero they say them God.So my point of view it is wrong or like atheist thought.

Christ as I think our mysterious inner life story.A beautiful symbolical suspense .

Christ who was hanged on cross. In our conscious level we have the ego centered mind which have many desires and attachment to the worldly things , but all things have two types of deeds like and unlike we may say bad and good .In service of humanity when ego dissolve then conscious goes up to that level which we say without self or selfless personality, transformation of self .Where we can say he has hanged on or he is out of desires for mankind.Or he is beyond bad and good self desires that is called the Cross(+) the person up this, is Christ .Cross has two lines means negativity and positivity of mentality .When one trans from this state ,it can be said he has crucified The belief that after crucified, Jesus rose from dead simply means he entered in divine transformed life and left the body centred ego .

In that sense we must follow the story which gives some motto for our life .

The bible is full of errors. I left christianity because of the errors in the bible. I was always taught from young that it was a perfect book with no errors. Imagine my disappointment when I found out the truth!

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Acts 18:6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

So you can make your own choice, whether to accept the grace of God and be saved or to reject it and be condemned.

I don't care who reads the bible. But there is no cruelty or ambiguity in the New Testament which Christians follow.

It makes sense to them and they want to spread the word like the Bible says.

Much needs to be read in historical context.

Could you take the belief of anyone seriously who did not want to share it?
