If you got an e-mail from them recently saying you won, that is just a scam which is going around. Never pay anybody you don't personally know by Western Union.

Otherwise, why pay a lot of money for a service if you can do it yourself in little time for free? Nobody knows whether USAFIS does anything for the money you pay them. As it's a lottery all they have to say sorry, you didn't win... what we do know is that if you sign up they will pretty aggressively try to get you to pay them money, there are a lot of complaints about them about fraudulent credit card charges.

    Use this website:http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/

Usually the lottery opens in October. Visit the site in September and it will tell you the exact date when it's open. Write it on your calendar, then you don't forget it. When it is open you can enter. And you will know that your entry actually gets submitted. Make absolutely sure you keep the confirmation number. I think in the future it will be your only way to figure out whether you have won.

It's probably not very genuine. Only the U.S. Government will run a real one, so make sure you find their correct web-site as there are a lot of clones out there. Look at the web address, it will end in .gov

Scam - scam - scam! A flood of these spam emails have recently hit, and hundreds of people are asking what's going on here. Nigerian Fraud! Whether it is coming out of the internet cafes of Nigeria or Ghana or elsewhere, it is a classic Nigerian Fraud scheme. Do not open these spam emails. Set your spam filters.
