How to replace fuel filter on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?
We have a 2005 LaCrosse 6-cylinder with about 28,000 miles on it. One person told me that there is a "strainer in the gas tank that is not really serviceable" and that "GM feels that it never needs to be replaced." Another said that it doesn't have any fuel filter at all. Some others have said it is in different locations but we can't find it anywhere on the fuel line. Is there a GM mechanic here or someone who has had experience with this who knows if the car has one or not? Thanks in advance for your answer.
Gary, It mentions nothing about a fuel filter in the maintenance schedule that is in the owner's manual.

Yes, there is a filter.
Your filter will be in your gas tank. You can get to it by pulling up the back seat. There will be a round hole with a lid. This can be VERY annoying to undo. You'll basically need a screw driver (or blunt chisel) and a hammer and slowly tap around each rim until it starts to undo itself. Be patient.
Unhook the plugs first though. After that, you'll be able to pull out the entire assembly. The filter is part of that assembly. Make sure when replacing it, you remove and/or replace every single "O" ring you find.

have you checked your owners manual maintenance schedule? also check with you local auto parts store and look at a replacement filter if they have one, this should make it easier to find. If you do replace remember to depressurize the system first.
