Why do most Christians disagree with one another when it comes to the Bible?

Isn't the Bible suppose to be the word of God? Why so much confusion?

    King James Version Bible

    2 Peter Chapter 1

    2. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

    21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.

[The confusion comes from the fact people were raised in sinful traditions and beliefs and when people finally read the Old and New Testaments they find it almost impossible to accept that their lifestyle, since birth, is against God.]

[So we Christians pick and choose which one is the easiest to follow and ignore the rest, not realizing that every single scripture is deeply connected to each other in understanding the scriptures.]

[This causes and confusion and hatred and then leads to anti-christs and new churches... new false teachings... which can prevent many from entering in New Jerusalem.]

    2 Timothy Chapter 1

    8. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

    Romans Chapter 1

    16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

    Matthew Chapter 10

    32. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

    33. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

    Luke Chapter 9

    26. For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and [in his] Father's, and of the holy angels.

    John Chapter 1

    1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    Romans Chapter 10

    17. So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

    1 Timothy Chapter 6

    12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

    Hebrews Chapter 11

    1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    1 John Chapter 4

    12. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

    John Chapter 5

    43. I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

    44. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that [cometh] from God only?

    1 John Chapter 2

    3. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

    4. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

    5. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

    John Chapter 8

    31. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;

    32. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

    2 Corinthians Chapter 4

    3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

    4. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

    5. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

    6. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

    John Chapter 8

    12. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    James Chapter 1

    5. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

    6. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

    7. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

    8. A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.

Most Christians will agree on essential christian doctrine and debate and often disagree on parts that are not essential. The Bible is complex and the fact that we're not reading it in it's original language and that it sometimes uses anachronistic euphemisms adds to that complexity.

This is not a bad thing. It means that people are thinking about what it says and trying to get to the very heart of a matter.

What is essential? These are the things that make a Christian a Christian:

The Bible is the inspired word of God.

    God created everything.

Man is sinful and separated from God.

God became a man named Jesus to die in our place.

    Jesus was resurrected.

Jesus' Death and resurrection covers our sin and makes it possible to have restored relationship with God.

    Jesus is coming again.

If someone disagrees with the essentials, then they fall outside of orthodoxy and most would say they're not actually a Christian. Everything else is secondary and open to debate and argument.

    1) Why do most Christians disagree with one another when it comes to the Bible?

For the very same reason that most English professors disagree with each other when it comes to the subtext of Moby Dick (or any other "advanced" work of literature).

    2) Isn't the Bible suppose to be the word of God?

    Yes.

    3) Why so much confusion?

The confusion is due to the fact that imperfect humans are attempting to understand the word of God as written down by humans in imperfect human language. The same sort of dispute is found in almost any field that depends on understanding of human language (especially law and literature)

No. The Bible is revealed to the believer and some are in different levels of salvation. A seasoned Christian who has studied will receive more revelation through the Holy Spirit who lives within the believer than the newly converted saint.

    Citations? Any proof?

You read the Bible and figure out what it says. Some things are open to interpretation, some things are exaggerated, there is quite a bit of sarcasm in the Old Testament, and not all of it is black and white, clear as day simple. The whole point is so that YOU read it, not have someone else tell you what it means. That's how there was so much corruption in the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages; no one could read, so they depended on the priests to tell them what the Bible said. Eventually, they exploited the commoners. Figure out what it means to you.

Many things are open to different interpretations based off of what is said in the bible (obviously only one is correct though and that we just disagree about which interpretation is correct)

    @ doctor jones

The bible is translated directly from the original copies that are in ancient Greek and Hebrew. They are not translated over multiple languages nor has there been mistakes in them.

it rather is fantastically hopeless, rather. early Christianity branched into many unusual guidelines, and replaced into purely compelled returned right into a popular consensus by technique of committee compromises and outright persecutions. The Bible is a hodgepodge number of writings from numerous sects, and that they don't all in superb condition mutually ok. The winners have been people who had the main converts do to clever advertising methods (like St. Paul, who based many church homes and opened the religion to non-Jews). and then after that it began branching returned. it rather is annoying to think of that any of the present Christian religions wisely portray what Jesus taught. i might advise that any one who's interested in following Christianity pass returned and concentration on what Jesus certainly taught. The Sermon on the Mount is a reliable initiate.

If you go to Yahoo bablefish and type in "thou shalt not kill"

Translate from; English to Spanish.. Spanish to French.. French to German.. and finally German to English

You get; "Massacre did not scold thousands"

add 2000 years worth of editing and mistakes and now you have a ridiculous piece of fiction that millions have died over.

Greek Hebrew also Aramaic and then into Latin. When William Tyndale first translated it into English from greek in favor of the latin version he was burned for his efforts. More than translation errors are omissions and subjective interpretations, misinterpretation and misrepresentations. Tyndale's translation was considered heretical by the Vatican as it was considered to have over 2000 errors. Mostly errors that undermined the authority of the Vatican. After Tyndale was burned for heresy his version translated from the greek was used as the basis of the King James Version.

Biblical translations are made to serve the powers of the day or take away from them. In Tyndales case he was 100 years ahead of his time and would have lived had England been more firmly Protestant.

You can't deny the contradictions in the bible. I believe in God, just not a book.
