Chinese Astrology, different results?
I have calculated what my animal is, some say dragon and some say snake. Why do sites have differing calculations?
Uh no, that's not what I was asking at all and if you don't believe in this why do you even bother visiting this section? I am asking why different sites calculate your birth date differently. Thanks for not helping.

Some sites say I'm a snake and some say I'm a Dragon. I want to be a Dragon but I want to follow the authentic alignment.
unknown_darkness, the site you listed says I'm a Dragon. :)

You don't have to calculate! Each zodiac has specific years. Just search for the animal representing the year you were born in. (:
e.g. 1992-monkey, 1993-rooster and so on. (Periodically 12 years)
EDIT: Okay, there's something wrong there... You should be a snake! Try this instead: http://www.divineanswers.com/wp-content/uploads/20...
You'll see your year under the snake just like you see mine under the monkey.
Hope this helps!

First off, the birth year animal signs are based on "lunar" calendar. It's different from the Western Gregorian calendar. Thus, you first need to do a conversion. I believe some of the sites do not have accurate data, and therefore, the differences.
Second, the birth year animal signs are in Chinese culture. There were initially the 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches. And at later time, the animal signs were mapped to the earthly branches. With the heavenly stems and earthly branches, they form cycle of 60 counts.
Birth year animal signs are for fun. They are not considered as serious astrology approach. In Chinese astrology, there are two mainstream approaches, they are Zi Wei Dou Shu, and Ba Zi. They each has 2,000 years of history. They are practiced in the Chinese ethnic communities around the world.

Better: Astronomy without Astrology. There can be no Astrology without Astronomy. Astronomy is the basis for Astrology.
