Science museum in Rome?

There is a fabulous Science and Technology museum in Milan. I remember how amazed I was at all Da Vinci had designed and how scientific his artistic mind was. Is there an outstanding science or Da Vinci museum in Rome? Other than the "normal" visitor sites, are they any special places you would recommend? I've been there and have taken tours. I'm going back this summer and want to see non-tourist things.

There's the Museo Astronomico Copernicano which I find interesting. For other things off the beaten track, you could go to see the Museum of the Souls of Purgatory or the ossuary at Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini where there are art works made from the bones of past monks. The view through the keyhole of the gate at the Knights of Malta on Aventine hill is also worth making an effort to see.
