Does beverage temperature effect the way your body absorbs caffeine?

So I go back and forth from getting giant ice tea from Starbucks to making my own at work. I recently got lazy and started drinking my tea hot at work and I noticed that it wasn't giving me the "kick" that I usually get. At first I thought that 'bucks just had amazing ice tea but no, I went out of my way and made ice tea at work and I am wide awake.

So I'm wondering what's the difference between iced and hot, it's the same amount of caffeine so what changes?

Update:

Thanks Buk but no, the tea is steeped in hot water and then poured over ice.

Update 2:

I don't accept that as a valid explanation.

It has more to do with when you drink it.

There are natural chemicals in the body (I cannot recall what they are called off the top of my head at the moment) that when they set in make you tired. If you drink tea or coffee after they set in it will not make a big difference as they block the caffeine.

If the caffeine sets in first the chemicals in the body will be blocked and the effect from the caffeine will be felt and you will be more awake.

Drinking caffeine to wake up if tired has no physical medical basis, it is psychosomatic.

It can be that if you are tired and rest or sleep even a short nap that the chemicals making you tired will be freed up allowing the caffeine to set in so afterward the chemicals cannot set back in for effect.

Another factor that may cause a person to feel more awake is temperature change with cooler typically being more stimulating but cold can reverse that to being more tired after a short time.

Also sugar or better natural sugars and some grains may give you energy that wakes you up some and allows the caffeine to take over. Eating too much will have the opposite effect as it draws the blood toward the stomach for digestion. Each person is a bit different in these areas and personal experimentation is the best way to find your own reactions to what works and how much has the desired effect.

Note that iced tea does often have the effect of cooling the body some as would opening a window when driving or having a fan or air conditioner although this would be from inside the body and therefore having a more pronounced effect on the body chemistry and in turn allowing the caffeine a better chance to be effective.

Just a side note that you may find interesting. Caffeine has a stimulating effect on certain areas of the brain that are used for concentration and focus when experimenting or working in areas considered under paranormal. When from natural sources it has a different effect than a chemically based source although both have the effect of being more awake.

Well the temPerature of the drink doesn't matter, because once it foes into your body, all drinks become the same temperature...

But if you seep the tea in ice cold water instead of seeping it in boiling water and the cooling it, in the cold seep situation there will be less caffeine in the tea.

No idea, I drink around 2 cups of coffee and 2 cups of tea a day and my skin is pretty bad looking but it's always been, I think it is mainly genetic whether you are a spotty type or not because I know a lot of people who eat junk food all the time and have amazingly clear skin and are as skinny as ****

Maybe your body is just telling you it likes the cold tea more than hot tea. But...I heard it's much better to drink something hot while eating. I can drink something hot AFTER I eat...but not WHILE I'm eating...it has to be cold for me.
