Why should real estate buyers use a realtor?

I understand why sellers should use a realtor, but why should buyers have a realtor? I think we can look at properties on our own. I know it doesn't cost anything more to have a realtor for the buyers, I just don't see the purpose in it. Please explain.

If buying an selling real estate is something that you did every day like a Realtor does, I would agree that that there is no purpose, but since that is not the case and you aren't up to date on real estate law and know all the pit falls that could get you sued in the process, I would suggest have the representation. It isn't just about showing houses, but protecting the interests of the client whether that be knowing the market, present and likely future resale value, help in negotiations, contract terms to include in an offer, being able to explain the entire purchase contract in detail and various other issues. I mean I know how to cook, but if i could have a professional chef overseeing what I am doing in the kitchen and making suggestions on how it should be done, it sounds like a good idea to me.

I really believe that the realtor are good and for good and obviously necessary.

    Explanation:

Sometimes you got a small accident and you go to the doctor and have your medicines and bandage, although you know you can do this all yourself as well at home but you still go to the doctor because the doctor knows better. What you think is little can be very serious.

Same goes here you are not expert at house buying, you see the house and it looks fine but you didn’t have the expert eye… it’s easy to make you fool as compare to the realtor who is expert is this.

    Hope I clear my point.

a realtor has easy access to MLS listings. when it comes to writing a bid & negiating & protecting you, a realtor is best. you can use an attorney, too.
