Why does Yahoo allow continued abuse?

I have been using YA for about 6 months. I have noticed the same companies posting the same spam over and over and over. These posters seem to be operating with full impunity and Yahoo has taken no apparent steps to squelch and block them. They are always directing people to go to the same addresses--they have never changed. I used to report these "violators" until yahoo quit removing their posts with my reports, it was then that it became apparent that Yahoo must be approving these people or bots to post these "answers". Is there something I am missing? Or is Yahoo Answers really that far behind and unable to block repeat violators?.

These posters change their account names daily but their content remains identical from day to day. The part that really bothers me about all of this is that these spam-bots identify themselves as "medical doctors" and routinely recommend medications and direct people to sites with ads for big brand prescription drugs. As far as I know it is considered felony misrepresentation if these spammers are not really the physicians they are purporting to be. What is going on with these repeat spammers who appear to be in full violation of the YA community standards and the law?

The problem is a lot more complex than most folks realize, and a lot more is being done behind the scenes, as well. Creating enough code to simply BLOCK these folks unilaterally is difficult and might bog down the site completely. There IS a background program that is run that deletes profiles which post certain links and have been reported, automatically, but it runs at night, during the hours when the site is slower, to lessen impact on the timing of postings. But please be assured that staff is working on this process all the time. They do seem to have finally 'killed' the Nike spammer, for example. But new spammers find new ways to 'crack the code' here all the time, and start the process again.

I agree that there are far too many of these "abuses out there and the rate of these have gone up. The main problem with this is that yahoo has to go through and check every single incident to make sure that is a violation before removing the content. It is hesitant to outright ban a user because they usually give warnings/multiple chances. Also, if it does, it prevents a one-time offender from doing it in the future. What this slows down is the process taken to remove the repeated violaters on the site, and a person with a offense reported once may not have another answer of theirs reported. In your case, I think it is just longer response time or perhaps yahoo needs multiple people to report one answer. Have you ever seen a user deleted? I have seen a few, and due to their violations, they have been completely blocked from the site. Also, yahoo closes down all their services such as email, messenger, etc. If it is an extreme violation such, then enforcement officials may be contacted. The main thing is that yahoo depends on user reports and it takes time to go through them, not all users report posts and some are on the borderline. They're not necessarily the same people, but different people hired by the company with multiple accounts. It is annoyinh, but until it has a better system implemented, all the users can do is keep reporting these posts, because it is not only on yahoo it is on other websites too, but that way we can keep it to a minimum.

If you go to the Suggestion Board you'll find a group dedicated to fighting spam with the approval of Y!A. Yes, they could just block out all posts with those email addresses but their position on the matter seems to be "If we block those addresses, they'll just keep making new ones until we have to block millions of them." The same goes for IP addresses.

I know, those "I'm a doctor." spams were some of the first I saw and it's very frustrating because no doctor would ever just recommend a drug over the internet. The bots (or people?) will use a keyword search to recommend a drug for anything, from cancer to pregnancy.

But if you report them, most of these spams will go away and the accounts closed with little difficulty.

I agree that the SPAM is very frustrating. It seems the best we can do is to continue to report the material to YA, using the 'report Abuse' link at the bottom of the pages.

If Yahoo is knowingly permitting an worker of theirs to be giving out very own techniques--particular they could be reliable. And the worker might desire to be in hardship. And so might desire to the receiver of techniques. If Yahoo knows of the subject and takes no action-particular. holding documents of information and names is a solid step. As Yahoo does have particular rules they might desire to abide via. And shop documents of who you communicate with at Yahoo. it quite is as much as some to settle on in the event that they pick to pursue it. some issues might desire to be action fits--all business enterprise even deepest have rules they might desire to stay with. i comprehend this as fact. i'm not sure what you experience is uncontitutional in spite of the incontrovertible fact that. Abuse in what way?
