how much does it cost to change titles on a car in California?
I just purchased a 2002 Yukon for $7000 off my neighbor. I would like to know if anyone knows around how much it cost to switch titles.

Depends on the county you're in, since sales tax varies a bit. But California will collect their pound of flesh from you. I'm WAGging, but I'd guess $500. Take care!!

$20 for the title, sales tax (7%-9% of the sales price as tax, whatever your local tax rate is), and a smog check if it hasn't been done within the last 90 days.
So, assuming worst case, around $700.
You can transfer title at the DMV, at your local AAA office for no extra charge, if you're a member, or at a local registration shop, for an additional fee.

Sales tax in your county from 8 - 10%, title fee and registration fees around $300, smog certificate $100.
