Violations - more practical information needed.?

I've just picked up my first violation in over 1,000 answers. As you can imagine - it was a straightforward matter-of-fact answer, but within a loaded topic where you have to tread carefully - I'm a little bit upset about that.

I believe:- that somebody who was upset at my answer and felt emotionally threatened by it hit the "Report Abuse" button, as this was easier on their brain than preparing a reasoned rational reply. How do I guard against this?

I suspect: looking at my "contacts", that something else is going on. No less than four people on my "contacts" list are unobtainable because their accounts may have been suspended for one reason or another. If an individual is suspended for bad behaviour, do the yahoo police take the point of view that their "contacts" are also suspect and they should then, therefore, take a close look at anything submitted by the criminal's associates to see if they're guilty by association?

Also, a strange thing has happened. I would have to make a personal decision as to whether to become a fan of somebody else, yes? In theory, nobody else can do this for me or co-opt me as a fan without me knowing about it? I don't become a fan of anyone. Yet in two cases, I discover I am listed as somebody else's "fan" without my having consciously agreed to do so. This is very suspicious.

Can "contacts" also offer a chance for somebody to monitor what I do and write on Answers, so as to make it easy for somebody who disagrees with me on religious or political grounds to "stalk" my posts and hit the "report abuse" button on anything I write that they disagree with? I'm beginning to suspect mischief here.

If so, what do I do about it? And how do I "un-fan" myself from people I have no recollection of "fanning"?

Thanks!

Update:

Whoops..... enormous red face.

As the offending material was to do with a question about the Holocaust - where anyone with any brains or sensitivity treads carefully - I honestly thought the violation was to do with an answer I submitted only a week or two ago. Well, you would, wouldn't you? But after long searching, I discovered that question and answrs are all still there.

The one they took objection to dates from THREE YEARS AGO! I know there's no statute of limitations, or anything like that, but why should this come to light now after being allowed to stand for so long? And why can they not tell you exactly which question - out of well over a thousand I have participated in - the violation dealt with? I took as as read, as you would, it was more recent than that!

Update 2:

*************************************************************************************************************

"This question about "Violations - more pr… " was originally asked on Yahoo! Answers United States".....

....errr.... no, it wasn't. Is this Yahoo's general level of accuracy? Because I do NOT belong to YahooAnswers United States and I have no recollection of going there, save answering the odd American question. My email address ends yahoo.co.UK, and I belong to YahooAnswers Great Britain and Ireland, which is where most of my answers are posted and exactly where I would have expected this question to be posted. Thank you, Yahoo, for changing my nationality without asking me first!

Yahoo have ****** it up again?

Many users have no fans or contacts. Keep your account private. But also check why you got the violation (you did win the appeal?). If you want to know the reason for the violation, post "Why was this question (answer) a violation?" and add the original e-mail you got so the users can see the exact context. The experienced users here will explain it to you. There is no statute of limitations on breaking the YA rules.

You are fabricating facts and scenarios in your head.

"Yahoo Police"? What's that? Proof Please?

Yahoo Answers is a user moderated site. Regular people like you and I are responsible for reporting violations. Also, although it is possible to earn enough status to get content removed with a single abuse report, very few people have earned that ability, which means that you can safely say that it takes two or more abuse reports to get content removed.

Now, Yahoo Customer Care WILL look at an account's history, but not contacts of fans.... but that is only when they are looking to prove that people are colluding to cheat. The proof isn't in the contact or fan list.. the proof is in the questions asked and questions answered by an account. Privacy settings mean nothing to Customer Care.

You do NOT "fan" people. Here is how it works. If you click on "Add Contact" to add someone as a Contact... on YOUR profile, they are a contact. On THEIR profile, you are a fan. If someone clicks on Add Contact on YOUR profile, that makes them a fan on your profile.

If you want to make your Q&A private, you need to go to the Privacy & Communications settings, and set your Q&A to Contacts Only.... then you need to remove ALL your contacts. Then, no one can stalk you through your profile.

If your content was not an actual violation, appeal it politely, and point out specifically where you were not in violation of the guidelines. If you are right, your content will be reinstated.

    end of line

I might be unsuitable however a Messianic Jew follows the Mosaic regulation however believes in Jesus for his or her salvation. Going to temple or Church on Saturday could be my concept, however Sunday could no longer be out of bounds for them.

A longtime back I started doing things this way, members fan me but I don't fan them. I'mnot so sure it helps but probably doesn't hurt either.
