How much flagstone do I need?

I need flagstone for 126 sq. ft. The flagstone costs .13 per pound. How do I figure out how many pounds of flagstone I need and how much will it cost. I need the formula in case the cost is different from .13 per pound. Thanks!

Go to this site:http://capbrick.com/technical_data.htm., or type into your browser's search box 'flagstone weight' hope this helps. I went there and this is the table they show:

Calculating Natural Flagstone used on walkway's, patios, porches.

Please Note: We sell flagstone by weight, however you can use the following chart to calculate approximate square foot coverage conversions.

Average weight per skid= approximately 2.2 tons or 4400 pounds

Average square feet per layer= 12 square feet per layer

1/2" flagstone= approximately 6.7 pounds per square foot.

3/4" flagstone= approximately 10 pounds per square foot.

1" flagstone= approximately 13.33 pounds per square foot.

1-1/4" flagstone= approximately 16.7 pounds per square foot.

1-1/2" flagstone= approximately 20 pounds per square foot.

1-3/4" flagstone= approximately 23.33 pounds per square foot.

2" flagstone= approximately 27 pounds per square foot.

If you are using it for a footpath, 1/2" will probably work. At your price of .13 per pound, 109.75 total. Any heavier traffic you'll want to go thicker. Make sure you prep the area right. Remove any vegetation and lay down weed barrier, then a bed of sand or mortar. Tamp it if sand and level it. Lay the stone and tamp it. If needed overdress with sand, tamp the joints, water it, then sweep it. Good Luck!

    Hope this helps.

You'll either need them to give you an average weight per square foot, or you'll need to find the average thickness of the flagstones and compute the cubic inches per square foot and then find the weight of a cubic inch of the stone. For the latter, there are likely references online for the weight of various rock materials.

If you want a good tool for converting units, try the Wolfram Alpha site - the tool does some natural language processing, so you can just put in things like: [ inches square foot ] and it'll spit back the conversion factors. If it doesn't give you what you want, try rewording it slightly.

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/awsCL

Have the landscaper come back out and fix it. Tell them what it is doing. They should have put someting down below the rock and the filler. If they were expecting grass to grow between them, they should have sowed the seed. Doesn't sound like they did a very good job and should correct it. The spacing is not a problem, but it does sound like something was supposed to grow between them. Maybe Spanish Moss or Thime. bwg
