Does frying or heating outdated foods kill bacteria and make them edible?
Oftentimes my meats, chicken, fish and other supermarket purchases are well over the use by date. Why can't I fry or microwave the heck out of them to kill all bacteria and be able to keep from throwing good food into the garbage?

you can do this, but by the time you have sufficiently raised the temperature all the way through the meat to kill the germs, it will be inedible for other reasons :(

To an extent. You should never cook raw chicken or beef in the microwave, but if the food is already cooked to an internal temperature of 180F or greater, and you are heating it up for say, leftovers, you will be just fine and it will kill off the bacteria. However, the way the micro waves are transmitted you can not cook raw meat in the microwave because it will cook unevenly the rays of the microwave cook at slanted positions and some spots are not throroughly cooked, this is why you have to stir items and rotate them to cook them evenly when reheating. Good luck!

because thats unsafe. you can get a horrible sickness like ecol i or salmonella it wont work because the microwave will cook the meat not kill the bacteria. If you want to do it dip them in boiling water. but be aware they rot not from bacteria

because in order to kill most of the bacteria you would need to heat the food up to over 100 degrees
