Do protein drinks/bars actually help build muscle?
I've been drinking protein drinks and more water than I used to (not a lot more, but definitely better than just soda) and I'm eating my first protein bar. I exercise until I wear myself way out and then some (mainly crunches, sit ups and push-ups, but when Summer hits I intend on going out for runs, as well) throughout the day, and I've only recently started this routine. It's not hard to keep up with, but I would honestly like to know: Do protein drinks/bars actually help build muscle, or are they just complete crap? If they don't help with muscle, do they have any good effects on the body?

Lifting weights will cause the muscles to grow. Protein is food for muscles. Weight plus Protein plus Exercise will help build muscle. Muscles respond to weight. The more weight the bigger the muscle will grow. Protein is essential for muscle repair and for muscle food. Chicken, fish, eggs, nuts, cottage cheese are high in protein. Protein powders and Whey powders are a good source to add protein to your diet.

Lol are you joking...Of course protein shakes help build muscle. They're...protein...Maybe the one you're using is a garbage brand like muscle milk? Try BSN Syntha-6 it's f*cking good and I drink it just for the f*ck of it sometimes. :D (Buy on bodybuilding.com though it's like 2x cheaper)
