Looking for software to help me design my own furniture.?

I would like to be able to have custom furniture built using my designs however I have no idea how to use software of that kind. So, what kind of software (if any) is out there that would allow me to create designs for my own furniture? Something with an easy learning curve.

I would like to be able to design end tables, coffee tables, chairs or even a couch.

Any suggestions? I have a Mac. I don't know if that matters.

Whenever possible i like to make my own homemade furniture. Sometimes i want frames, stands, boxes, etc to custom sizes and it makes more sense to make them myself so i get what i want and it also works out far cheaper. It's a hobby and i have no training. I was wondering if there are any programmes out there that would be good in aiding me in this process. I have been looking at a few CAD programmes and i'm still trying to get my head around them (no experience with them although i would like to learn the basics). Is there anything that would help me with just the basics. Essentially i want to be able to make virtual pieces and put them together so that before i go cutting anything i know that it will work. Anything sound like it would suit me for basic tasks?

I would say there are many factors to consider, do the hardware you plan to use make models for there standard products like hidges clasps handles etc. Also you may have to get nitty and gritty no program is going to do everything for you you'll have to learn it.

my advise: Rhinoceros , as i know some furniture/sculpture makers who use it.

Source(s): Or else, you can visit: www.sketchlist.com. It's CAD for furniture but more - it does things like joinery, and cut optimzation diagrams.

You can check Staples, I saw one there. You should check online just to be sure that they still have them, though.
