just got a new puppy.. but it cant get along with my dog?

we just brought home a 40 day old puppy about 2 days ago.. it's a miniature beagle and i've already had another miniature beagle for a few years. at first, i thought they'd get used to each other by smelling each other and stuff. i guess it's just taking longer than i expected?

the new puppy = female

older dog = male

they're related.. it's his daughter. and the MAIN problem is that the father has been drooling excessively all over the house whenever the puppy approaches him.. its disgusting and never ending to clean up.

are they just gonna go on like this for a long time? is there anything i can do?

Update:

also, i would really like to say that the drooling issue is a huge part of my question. why does he do it? can it stop

?

Update 2:

not neutered

and i did that. i got them close together numerous times and it was a very odd experience.

Update 3:

@James um.. calm down

I think that because the male is not nuetured that causes the drooling. I think that if you spayed the female or nuetered the male that would stop. They also need time to adjust to one another. They wont get along automatically. The dogs might be looking at eachother as a threat rather then a friend. But I think that you should try this trick that I did when I got my new dog:

About two or three times a day put the two dogs in seperate rooms.

Then take one of the dogs and bring them into the other dogs room.

When they see eachother make them sit and give them both a treat.

This will teach them that when they are together its a good thing rather then a threat.

    I hope this helps!

Well, how did you introduce the 2? because if they are both Min. Beagles, you were supposed to place the puppy in front of the bigger dog. it another reason the older one is acting weird is because they are two different genders, and it doesn'tm atter if the older dog is the little one's father. he probally just feels akward.
