Is there any difference between these propyl molecules?
I have a nomenclature test coming soon and I've learned so many ways of naming things that now I'm confused of which one is the right way, lets say I have this molecule.
...........OH
.............l
....CH3CHCH3
Is there any difference between isopropyl alcohol, isopropanol, sec-propyl alcohol, sec-propanol,
2-alcohol propane, and 2-propanol? ( not sure about the last two)

================OH
---------------------------------|
---------------CH3----------CH--------CH3
there are two ways of nomenclature
(I) trivial name or simple name
(II) I.U.P.A.C. name
(A) now this compound is -----------ISO PROPYL ALCOHOL;( simple name)
(B) I.U.PA.C. NAME----------- PROPAN--2-- OL or 2 - PROPANOL
now your names isopropanol , sec propyl alcohol, sec propanol, & 2 -alcohol propane
are NOT CORRECT NAMES
NO DOUBT----------- isoprpyl alcohol is -----secondary alcohol[ as it has --CH--OH )
[ alcohols are of three types (I) primary alcohol (II) secondary alcohol (III) tertiary alc.]
p----{ having --CH2OH gp}s----- (having --CH-OH--- gp} t- -{ -having ---C-OH-}

Isopropyl alcohol, is a common name for isopropanol. A colorless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odor. It has the molecular formula C3H7OH, and is the simplest example of a secondary alcohol, where the alcohol carbon is attached to two(2) other carbons. In organic chemistry, propyl is a three(3) carbon alkyl substituent, with chemical formula -C3H7. It is the substituent form of the alkane propane.

sec-propanol is true
here is three c------------->prop
OH shows an alcohol--------> ol
OH is on sec c -------------->2
-----------------------------------------------------
so : 2- propanol (IUPAC naming)
the other name of this alcohol is isopropyl alcohol, isopropanol, sec-propyl alcohol,
2-alcohol propane
so there is no difference!
i think it`s better to write sec -->2
