why does science consider gravity the weakest of the 4 known force,s?
you have seen the demonstration with a small magnet holding a key chain against the force of gravity. that's only because of the ferrous/ iron alloy in the ring...try the same experiment with a lead ball.
ok...so the sun cannot overcome mercury,s orbit because of centrifugal force yet it,s gravity can hold pluto & beyond in orbit. so it seem,s gravity is fairly strong up close & yet has a very far reaching effect. even comet,s are effected by the sun,s gravity.
now put that key chain several inch,s away from the magnet...it would seem gravity just might win that battle.
tell that to a black hole.
everyone know,s that electricity & magnetism can be combined to achieve either of themselves...the weak & strong nuclear force,s also...but no one seem,s to be able to explain the force of gravity. even einstein,s explanation of spacial distortion leave,s question,s.
space craft & debris cannot simply slow down enough to enter the earth,s atmosphere without friction burning them up. because gravity overcome,s centrifugal force.
electrostatic force as well as electricity & magnetism can be manipulated...but we have little or no control over gravity...not enough to allow reentry into our atmosphere.
no other force has the long reaching effect as gravity does. yet a small amount of centrifugal force seem,s to overcome this gravitational force. so...why are we loosing our moon at the rate of a few inch,s a year while our earth seem,s to be stable...as well as the rest of the solar system? & why do comet,s return with such regularity. each object has it's own gravity [ depending of it's mass & size] . it seem,s to me that we do not know enough about the subject as we think we do. try some breakfast cereal [ round like trix] in a bowl of milk & notice how they cluster together...that,s einstein,s theory of spacial distortion...but how does it really work?
the other force,s have both a negative & positive...or north & south...strong & weak...but gravity seem,s to have only one force. if we could find it's opposite [ anti gravity] what a breakthrough that would be.
gravity,s main aspect is attraction? Einstein said gravity doesn't pull rather than spacial distortion push,s thing,s together & seem,s to be it's only aspect. what mankind believe,s he know,s has been written but by no way,s proven.
yes...we know about the other force,s...but do we truly understand gravity?
it seem,s gravity is a property of the universe rather than a property of a given object...even though that object determine,s the strength of gravity...& the reach of gravity is unknown since we have only experienced micro gravity...it is long enough to effect comet,s that return with regularity...I believe we don't quite know enough about the subject to make a positive determination.
I did not ask about the 3 other force,s...just wanted your impression of gravity. ..imagine your in the international space station engulfed in micro gravity. you have a container of liquid...you drop a marble into it or rather insert a marble into it. this would increase the total mass within the container...in turn increasing the pressure within. pressure on every part of the marble. this would be similar to gravity on the marble.. now space is a near vacuum but the same principal apply,s. space is like a fabric that increases pressure when an object [ such as a planet] is present...& the amount of pressure depends on the amount of surface of the object within.the force applied is relevant to the size or area displaced by that object. the density of the object plays a role also..but why? jupiter has more area than density yet has a very strong gravitational field. what lye's beneath the gas & haze...this is an unknown quantity. every time we venture into space we find what we did not

Because it is....
Yes, that experiment is why. A tiny little magnet can impart more force than the gravity of this entire planet! Magnetism only exerts a force on ferrous / iron. Put it next to lead, and their is no force exerted. So you're comparing a force of nothing vs. gravity when you don't use iron.

The Four Natural Forces
Gravity's main aspect is attraction, and it is felt and influenced by all energy, everywhere. Even light loses energy in the gravitational field of a massive body.
The electromagnetic (EM) force is more powerful than gravity, and it too has infinite range. It is so much more powerful than gravity that if the ratio of positively- to negatively-charged particles were even slightly different than it is now then gravity would be overpowered beyond comparable result.
Electricity and magnetism are both facets of the electromagnetic force; these aspects are identical, it is the vantage of the observing perspective which produces the apparent split in force. When in motion, magnetic charges can appear as an electric current, something those familiar with the workings of an alternator can attest to, and an electric charge in motion creates a magnetic field.
The strong and weak nuclear forces are far more powerful than gravity and electromagnetism, but their range is limited to the sub-nuclear level. Though the effects from these two forces are not as visibly noticeable, they are just as crucial to the structuring of our universe.
The weak interaction and strong force are both modeled from electromagnetism. It is also the only force which breaks parity. Breaking parity essentially creates true randomness in universal flow, and under our current understanding it-makes-determinability-impossible.
The strong force is roughly 100 times stronger than the electromagnetic force. The strong force balances the electromagnetic repulsion between two positively charged particles, and without this balance complex structures could not exist in any known form.

Well I am both surprised and in a sense impressed; because the icons list yourself (the questioner), and the two previous answers as upper-level responders.
So here is my take on the topic: Gravity is proportionately weak, as basic force goes, we all know this. Some theory suggests that the reason is that gravity is primarily a product of action internal to an alternate dimension; so we only get a partial effect as it slides past or through ours.
I don't feel well versed enough to add much more than that.
I do recommend viewing the videos of Brian Cox of Manchester University, maybe the sixty-symbols video's too.

Well, take two electrons. The electrostatic repulsion between them is about 10^39 times as strong as the gravitational attraction. This is true whatever the distance between them because both forces obey inverse square laws. The strong force which holds the protons and neutrons in an atomic nucleus together is even stronger because it overcomes the electrostatic repulsion of the protons and stops them flying apart. The nuclear weak force is not as strong as electric and magnetic forces, but it's still many orders of magnitude stronger than gravity.
