Is This not a Stroke of Genius? I Am truely Awstruck?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made the following proposal:

For Congress (i.e. the House GOP) to vote to allow the debt ceiling t be raised if 1/3 of Congress votes to do so.

That way, the GOP doesn't have to vote to raise the debt ceiling.

McConnell, you have truely set the gold standard when it comes to evading responsibility for your actions. The mind boggles!

Update:

Jaker -- thechnically you are right, but it's not relevant. This is not a class on political science I simply chose to go with a simplified version -- as did at list on ejournalist reporting this story. It amounts to the same thing: the GOP has to vote to rais ethe debt limit, but doesn't want to take responsibility for theri actions.

Please get the facts straight before posting things: McConnell's proposal is:

"McConnell has called for Congress to pass legislation authorizing Obama to make successive requests to increase the debt limit.

Under the legislation, Congress could only block those requests by passing resolutions of disapproval, which would have to be supported by two-thirds of both the Senate and House to overcome an expected presidential veto."

That's horrible. Pathetic. McConnell needs to go smoke some blue grass and retire

really? if tha'ts true that just stupid?

isn't making this proposal and voting for it basically the same thing as voting to raise the debt ceiling?
