= The Tampa Bay area is the place I would look first. From Spring Hill all the way to Sarasota is the best part of FLA. The northern suburbs of Tampa are very nice.
Jacksonville isn't FLA, that's southern GA.
Orlando is home of the mouse and not much of anything else.
Miami is... well it's Miami and that means it's crowded, expensive and full of foreigners.
The Panhandle towns are nice but mostly dominated by the tourist industry.
Smaller towns inland like Gainesville, Lakeland, Deland. They are nice places to live too.
When we moved to FLA my father flipped a coin and Orlando won the coin toss. We rented an aprtment over the phone and moved the entire family having never once stepped foot in FLA. We got lucky. I wouldn't advise doing that today.
What you need to do is take a few weeks and go on vacation. Look around, not like a tourist but as a home buyer and see what areas you like. Spend a few days in the Tampa Bay area, a few days in Central Florida, a few days in south FLA and just see what stikes you as a place where you'd want to settle down.

Without more info on what you are looking for:
-if you like big city life and a faster pace, try the east coast.
-if you want a more relaxed pace, the west coast will be better.
Gainesville, a college town in the center is great for young people to retirees and close enough to do day trips to either coast and Orlando.
Please note that half the people that move to Florida love it, half hate it and move out.
