What president gave us zero debt?

Before you say it never happened, think again. Do the research. Then tell me the FULL name of his party.

Khun_Thak, you got it backwards. It was the republican-democratic party first. Won first term under national republican and second party under democratic. This was the 1& ONLY time it has ever occured .He changed parties because the democrats were anti-government at the time, too bad they can't say the same now, get Obama out before we're doomed!!

Homie is wrong. Bush used the surplus left by former President Bill Clinton to give rebates. We were deeply in debt when Bush left office, though admittedly is worse now. The Republicans said Clinton would destroy the Country and unemployment would rise if he raised taxes on the wealthy and if he instituted other debt saving measures. Obviously the GOP was wrong then and are now.

The Country was debt free in 1835. Andrew Jackson a Democrat was President.

It happened again in 1850, Zachary Taylor, a Whig was President or Millard Fillmore also a Whig. Taylor died and Fillmore, who was VP become President, all in 1850.

It is highly unlikely that we will ever see -0- debt again. There is no gold standard anymore and Countries do not operate that way now.

The one and only time the US had no debt was midnight, January 8, 1835 - and after a couple of hours we were in debt again. Andrew Jackson was President. Martin Van Buren was the V.P. They were both Democrats.

I think it was Bill Clinton, due to the way George Bush Sr. the economy up.

If I do my research it would be Andrew Jackson back in 1836.

So the answer is Andrew Jackson.

President Clinton was the last to it.

He was elected as a Democrat.

He finished his term as a Democrat.

    Andrew Jackson sorta did it.

    Democratic-Republican ticket.

    Linden Banes Johnson did it.

    He was a Democrat.

Eisenhower did also, he was a Republican.
