How many Italian flags have there been?

I know that the first Italian national flag was "flown" in 1796, but how many different national flags have there been since then?

Italy became a unified Country in 1861 and always had the same national flag; previously, each independent Country in what's today is known as Italy had their own flag; you're right, the flag was created in 1796 (October 18th, we even know the "official" date) by Luigi Zamboni and Giambattista de Rolandis.

The flag was, before Unification, also used by Cispadane Republic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cispadane_Republic or as a symbol for Mazzini's "Giovine Italia", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giovine_Italia , both "prelude" to unification.
