What kind of trans movie would you like to see?

i was just looking over the listings for the local lgbt film festival, which starts in a couple of weeks, and was a little disappointed that every trans-related movie is to do with transition, coming out, all that sort of stuff. not one has a character who just *is* trans and gets on with his/her life. i'm sure gun hill road (for example) is an excellent movie, but my transition was a long time ago.

if you were producing a movie with a trans character, what sort of story would you like to see? my own recent story sounds like a movie: middle-aged woman solves health problem (my gall bladder), faces personal disappointment (too fat to fit in plane), resolves disappointing issue (loses weight), has new adventures (flying), finds new meaning in her life. and that's without saying a word about her genetics...

so what sort of story would you tell, or like to see told?

Im a straight old Jersey gal who speaks her mind , I like your idea ,my once brother is now my sister and not longer refers to herself as transsexual .She and i as well our other sisters )( all blood sisters ) have sat through the trans films like soldiers boy and so on , personally i found them to be obsessive with the issues pre ops have and the discrimination issues that relate to them .

My self i would love to see a film about a man or woman ( my sister says after the surgery your no longer trans) that speak about them moving forward past the trans community and fading int a life away from said community .

she or he could be a and auto mechanic that invents a new type of engine ,or a lawyer that wins a high profile case even after the media has outed their sexual orientation ..

I have learned so much about the trans community and they do not accept me for the most part because im a gg, it seems a few find me a threat in some way and i find those people to be nothing more then insecure men in a dress strutting about telling everyone they must be accepted .Other trans people i have met are well grounded and kind ( they are the true transsexuals i learned and they make it through the therapy ) I feel deep down that film is film and regardless of topic or venue if the story is well written and all the pieces fit you have something worthy of praise ..

Perhaps the main character can state at the end they lived once in the other gender and have found themselves and are now a complete person ..My sister has a yahoo account also but refuses to write on these boards .Stating she has been burnt by so many wanna bees and self centered whack jobs its just to much

we have stood by her and through her i found that im actually a pretty good person . Other members of our family feel differently but maybe someday they will realize she is still very much herself without the mask and the attitude .actually a really cool lady

maybe this is a topic you would like to write about ....

I feel anyone who has the guts to live their life as themselves and not in a mass of denial and lies has earned the respect of everyone .

shame they dont give trans people medals for bravery because my sister would have a big one

    sorry for the rant

    Dear Angela D

Is this to be a movie ABOUT a trans-person, or a story with a character that happens to be trans?

How about a love triangle? Our post-op protagonist is bisexual and seriously dating two people. IF she marries her boyfriend, she can go stealth and have a “normal” life… IF she goes for her girlfriend, she will be accepting the life of a “same-sex-couple.

    Or…

Our pre-op protagonist is at the bar… the bartender cards her, and refuses to allow her in the lady’s room.

So into the men’s room she goes… And Mr. DRUNK at the urinal thinks he’s going to get lucky tonight. Or so he thought.

Now she must testify in the trial of the 3 that attacked her.

    Or…

A commidy about a rock band… “The Trans-phormers”… On the road making their bones. (Pun intended.)

All 4 members are pre-op M2F. But Jennifer, the drummer is going in for her surgery, and the band needs a drummer to set in for the summer. Enter Robert… a pre-op F2M

Never really thought about it but how about just a normal. Perhaps a drama or romantic comedy where the character just happens to have gone through transition in the past. If a comedy they would have to make sure they didn't resort to the stereotypical crap they would want to as a joke punch line. It could be any movie really where we know the lead person was trans but it isn't really a focal point of the story line. If they wanted to do it as a story line perhaps a love story where the lead wants to tell a new person about their past and it turns out to be no big deal.

I would love to see a movie about a trans person that didn't focus entirely on their transsexuality. Maybe it could be about a transsexual professor or mathematician (what I want to be). Or a love story about a trans guy and a cis guy, except the focus is just two guys in love, not a transsexual and a cissexual.

because it occurred in the indian territory ( cutting-part day Oklahoma) it particularly is between the Trans Mississippi territories. and it pertains to the old west because it takes position west of the mississippi river between the years 1865 to 1900 (round 1880 to be genuine) it particularly is the time period that the trans mississippi west frequently pertains to. ( It pertains to a time at the same time as most of the land west of the mississippi became made from territories no longer states).

  • I would like a deeper version of the korean movie "Lady Daddy" it was good but kinda bland
