Will the hair on my ridgeback always be this short?

At 10 weeks, his hair is still so short you can barely grip it between your thumb & forefinger. We like it alot, it's soft like velvet. Just wondering if it might grow out as he ages. His dad is rhodesian ridgeback & mom is a big yella hound (blackmouth cur). Except for the black mask, he got his dad's looks 100% (including the ridge).

Your dog will grow out of her baby fur. It might stay short like it is know but most likely not as soft.

If your dog has inherited his fathers genes for him to have a Ridgebacks fur then it will remain short and velvety But I haven't a clue as to what his mum is like. But from what you have written I would think it will remains as it is now.

Rhodesia is a sub tropiclal to tropical climate so it was not necessary for dogs to grow long coats so moulting shiould not be a problem. But mum could have somthing to say about that.
