Paranormal Romance Plot Twist?
I am beginning to write a novel in which the grim reaper is the love interest. It will be a paranormal romance between a human girl and death himself. The plot so far is that she will be in some sort of accident and meet him but part of the twist is that she is only in a coma so she can't stay unless she chooses death (at first they don't know that) I am also going to incorporate all hallow's eve somehow and I'm just...stuck! I need some plot ideas and I DEFINATELY want some kind of huge twist that will leave the readers saying "WOW, I didn't see that coming". I have thought about maybe having it be the reincarnations of Hade's and Persephone or something but I don't want to be too cliche'. I am open to ANY suggestions or ideas!!! Please and thank you :)

maybe she could wake up from her coma and meet her doctor, aptly named Dr Death. He can be all like "yeah i know, it's an unfortunate name for a doctor" and she can be all "no, no it's not" and smile. Or not.
I think you should ask yourself where death stands on this, do he love her as well and does he want her to give up her life for him? and who is death becuase i'm picturing a hooded figure makde of bone. How this plays out will largely depend on who these people are.

That sounds a lot like Meg Cabot's book, Abandon, in which a human girl names Persephone falls in love with Hades, god of the Underworld. (she ends up there too) It's set in modern times and the girl even went into a coma for some time. How about in the end, you have the death itself come to life and be a normal person? Get someone else to play death and all that? In stories like this, the girl usually dies to join Death but what if it was in reverse? Death comes to life for the girl.

So you want to write a cliched paranormal romance but you don't want it to be cliched so you want someone else to do the work for you?
