What were GE's U-Boat Locomotives like to operate?

I heard that they were awful locomotives. So what do you engineers and conductors think of them?

Update:

Yeah Andy I hate the SD70M's too because that's all I see when I railfan the UP.

I hated them!If i never see another one it's ok with me.They were especially unpleasant to have to switch cars with. You'd open the throttle and they wouldn't do anything so you'd get another notch and suddenly they would leap forward like a scalded cat.For years i hated any unit made by GE(including the newer Dash 8's).They did pull well though and had great dynamic brakes. For us the EMD's were the Cadillac's of the locomotives. Now the GE C45 is my favorite engine and i dislike the EMD SD70's.Funny how things change.

Edit Yes AJ on the line i work 98% of the power is SD70's,C44's and C45's with a few SD60's mixed in.It's very rare to get any older Dash 8's or SD40 and 45's on our mainline freights. They do still use them on the locals though and for RCO yard power.

People that worked on them a lot loved them, they were great for slow speed pulling, they were quieter in many cases than the same size of EMDs, but they had tiny little narrow doors and walkways so they were a pain in the butt to get in and out of.

They leaked oil so if you even walked near one you were filthy and it seemed everytime I had some in a consist I had to re-start one or more for whatever reasons.

I didnt like them but I know guys that wouldnt want to work on anythign else.
