How can I take car emblems off?

My dad's uncle owns a huge junk yard with many different wrecked cars, and when I go, I want to take off a bunch of emblems and collect them. How can I do this without wrecking the emblem? Obviously if I scratch the paint of a completely wrecked car it doesn't matter, so I don't have to worry about wrecking the car, just the emblem.

Update:

Problem is I can't bring out a heat gun and hose in the middle of a giant junk yard.

depends on how they're attached. They used to be screwed through the metal, later attached by screws to the metal. Today's emblems are often glued on, frequently on fiberglass. They come off easily with a hair dryer and a length of fishing line. Gently pull back while sawing back and forth.

Then bring some hot water, and fishing line.

If your Dad's uncle owns the junk yard...why not ask his advice, he may advice you or....ask why you are stealing his emblems!!!!!
