Headlight bulb burns out quickly on one side of Honda Civic?
I have a 2005 Honda Civic. The driver's side headlight bulb burns out about every six months, and has been doing this for about two years. The passenger side has worked fine without replacement for at least two years. Could I possibly have an electrical or wiring problem that is shortening the life of the bulb? Can anyone recommend a bulb that is reliable? I usually go to a local mechanic for help with these types of repairs, but am thinking maybe I need to go to the dealer or to a specialty repair shop that works on car electric systems.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have your mechanic check to see if there is a loose connection or see if the headlight itself is loose, if it has the ability to wobble or move with road conditions it will short quickly. A bad connection will shorten the life of the bulb.
Also have them pull the connector off and put a voltmeter on it with the headlight switch in the on position to see if it is getting to much voltage to that side..it may be a relay.
Install a bulb or headlight directly from Honda...factory made parts are usually more expensive but better quality. Hope this helps.

Could be that the guy that's replacing it is touching the glass part of the bulb when hes installing it, the natural oils in your skin will cause hot spots in the bulb and greatly reduce its life.

what kinds of bulbs are you putting? are they the ebay xenon bulbs? or just regular HID kits?
here is our email for any questions ultra_hid@yahoo.com
hid kits would last you longer but if the bulb is burning out on the same side than it might be an electrical problem.

counting on which mild this is the battery would be in the way. on the lower back of the mild you will see a great locking ring. Unplug the twine from the mild, take off the ring and the bulb will pull out of the mild assembly. whilst putting the hot mild in make effective to not touch the glass on the hot bulb. in basic terms touch the plastic. Oils out of your arms getting on the bulb will reason the bulb to ahead burn out.
