What type of economic system do you prefer and why: Socialism or Capitalism?
In my opinion I would go for Capitalism simply because of what history has shown us about socialism. No country that has ever been under a socialist government has ever been happy. At some point the simple socialist will turn into a communist and that's where the problems get even bigger. We all know about the Nazis and what is going on today in Cuba and China...I think it is this reason why so many countries tend to go for a Mixed Economic system. If they want to get the best out of everyone, they have to take some ideals from both systems....so which one would you choose?

Capitalism tends to work like a game of Monopoly. Everyone starts out with money, and it becomes concentrated in fewer and fewer hands. Many people work only to make a concentrated few richer. Soon, workers cannot afford the goods that they produce. The economy crashes because there is no demand. Workers are laid off. The wealthy sit on the huge piles of money they have hoarded. The low wages of workers, unemployment, and outrageous salaries of many corporate CEO's demonstrate that things are growing out of control.
Socialism simply means that workers also have ownership and control over the means of productions. Some grocery stores and other businesses are worker owned, and are therefore socialist. Labor unions are also considered socialist, because they give workers a voice to demand better pay. Unfortunately, labor unions with too much power can send companies and countries into bankruptcy.
In practical terms, there have been no purely capitalist or socialist countries. Sometimes countries with autocratic tyrants have been called socialist, but neither USSR or China were ever controlled by a large group of workers. Most countries have varying degrees of socialism and capitalism.
In the United States we elect our leaders and go to work where we do not elect our leaders. Our government is democratic; but we go to work and are ruled by tyrants. If your boss wants to send your job abroad, he does. If he wants to cut your pay; he does. If we had democracy in the workplace such things wouldn't happen. What if you could go to work and vote that your job wouldn't get shipped overseas? That would be socialism.
I prefer a mix of capitalism and socialism. I would like America to be less capitalistic than it is now. I would like to see more unions and cooperative businesses. It would empower workers and the middle class. America would become less fragmented.

I'm sorry, but I think you might be confused about certain things and you're making completely wrong assumptions based on absolutely NOTHING. So, here:
--"No country that has ever been under a socialist government has ever been happy". First of all, there's no such thing as a "happy country". Countries are inhabited by millions of people, if you happen to talk with people that feels their country is sick, then you might find yourself having a biased opinion.
--"At some point the simple socialist will turn into a communist and that's where the problems get even bigger". Nope. Not one country in the world has ever developed communism. The closer they were was State Bureaucratic Socialism. If you feel like studying before writing, I would ask you to a least check wikipedia
--"We all know about the Nazis and what is going on today in Cuba and China". Okay. Three things here:
*Nazis were NOT communist. In fact, Hitler policy was anti-communist, there were a lot of commies at the concentration camps.
*China is NOT a communist government either. It's that State Bureaucracy I mentioned before. But it's turning into capitalism pretty much. And, China is doing a lot better than USA or Europe just for you to know.
*Cuba is NOT a communist government either. It's pretty much ****** up as much as any other latin american country, even when those are not even socialist. So, I guess it has nothing to do with being kinda socialist, uh?
--"If they want to get the best out of everyone, they have to take some ideals from both systems". If you want to be best, better work for people, redesign all the system into a more efficient one.

historically better odds. Russia is the biggest failure under socialism.
