How often do you get the "Yahoo Answers is currently unavailable" page?
As a percentage of all answers that you attempt to give (for free!). Have you tried reddit? What other social-media-like sites have you tried, and how much of it was due to Y! Answer performance?
MEAT TM, thanks for that. Apparently that is what happened. I hate it when I write a long, thought out Rx and that happens. Also, They list questions in categories which are "deleted" when you click on them...trolls can post 'questions' which are not entirely deleted, and to which you cannot respond.

I only get that message when I'm trying to answer a question that gets deleted...

Not that often.... but it does happen sometimes, its so annoying!
