Solve absolute value!?

-6 l 5-2y l = -9

I'm not sure if this is no solution or not. Can you please explain why?

Also I'm stuck on this one too 3-5l2x-3l=4

What do I do there first?!

    -6 |5-2y| = -9

    |5-2y| = 9/6

    |5-2y| = 3/2

    So either 5-2y = 3/2, or 5-2y = -3/2.

    5-2y = 3/2

    -2y = -7/2

    y = 7/4

    or

    5-2y = -3/2

    -2y = -13/2

    y = 13/4

    So the solution is y = 7/4 or y = 13/4.

    3 - 5l2x-3l = 4

    -5|2x-3| = 1

    |2x-3| = -1/5

    The absolute value cannot be negative! Therefore there is no solution.
