Track my computer speed?

Is there a program, preferably free, that can track my computer speed? By that, i mean ram usage, cpu usage, hard drive speed, ect.? I'm thinking about upgrading a part of my computer, but want to know which is the slowest for my games and other programs.

P.S. Don't say use task manager. I am looking for a longer term, like hours as opposed to minutes.

Thanks!

There are many programs like Speccy, HWmonitor & CPU-z to name a few from CNET/download.com that can show you real-time temps and other info. It is usually the hardware's own program that you can look to in order to see what's going on. The nvidia control manager or in my case the Catalyst control center shows temp as well as current activity. I can use speccy to see what my CPU is doing.

I can see with a few programs running, Firefox open and some music playing that its not getting pushed hard at all. In fact it looks like it's about to go to sleep. My CPU is the 2500K which runs at 3.3GHz. However with speedstep and other power saving options like C1E that I also don't understand it throttles my cores back when there isn't much to do. With this basic and free info I can clearly see what is being pushed way too hard. Nothing. So my suggestion would be to use what you have and not over-complicate the matter at hand. I can jump out of a game while it is still running and see what my computer is doing including taking a look at my task manager. I prefer real time. Sure you could see a readout that your GPU went to 100% at 3:15pm but what exactly was taking place 8 ours ago to make your GPU work that hard. I can judge by the performance of my computer as well as general knowledge about what's in my computer.

Once again Speccy shows me the info

I can see that I need to upgrade my OS to 64bit 7 pro and my graphic cards are OLD and should be replaced with one higher quality card and later on down the road two if I want. you can really just show someone familiar with some desktop components and some could tell you where your weakest link is. Wait a minute. That sounds familiar. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Amq5B... is relevant and this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Au07R... is a glaring example of an unbalanced system that was fairly easy to identify from miles away from the computer. Present us with your components and we could show you the weakest link. http://www.game-debate.com/ is something I use to judge whether or not a computer will be able to play but more importantly will the system be balanced. This could also show you the weakest link.

We need to know your most used programs and your system specs including your CPU GPU RAM Motherboard and it wouldn't hurt to know which power supply you are using as well as the serial number of your HDD.http://download.cnet.com/Speccy/3000-2094_4-751818... can show you that too. If I know my HDD is IDE I know I could make my system run smoother with a SATA drive. Faster still with 7200 instead of 5400 and faster still with the Velociraptor @ 10,000 and then I could move over to higher performing SSD drives. I also need to make sure the SATA connectors/hardware can support the larger transfers of info like 6 GB/s. Your HDD could be the weak spot. I wouldn't know where to find a program that would be able to constantly log all of my computer's components loads in real time and record it. You could use a program like http://www.futuremark.com/download/ . Even though it's for Gaming the info is legit. Then again it doesn't track your every move , well essentially it would be recording RAM usage, GPU usage, CPU usage, voltages etc, for 3 hours straight. I would be happy with someone identifying my problem area and offering a solution.
