What is a good computer cleaner?

My computer keeps freezing up and stalling when I'm using it. It does other strange things like dragging and jumping around when I move the mouse.

    I'm not sure what you mean by "cleaner", so I'll address it from two points.

    What could be going on right now could be caused by a malware infection;

    or it could be a hardware problem.

    I don't know much about hardware, so I'll leave that for someone else who may think that.

    If it's a malware infection, the best first thing to do is to download and update the free versions of Superantispyware (SAS) and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) and run a full system scan with SAS and a *quick* scan with MBAM, and let them remove whatever they find.

    > Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

    > Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_...

    And if what you are really asking about is a junk cleaner, then that would be CCleaner.

    (Which is good to run periodically anyhow.)

    Edit:

    Fixed some sloppy wording ;-)

    Heebus_j is right but I wanted to help further. I specialize in cleaning up older XP computers as even without a virus or infection they slow down quite a bit. So lets start, say you have a virus of malware or spyware do what the OP said but also lets get rid of some un needed files in XP go to start and then run. In VISTA and & go to start all programs Accessories system tools and run. When you see the run prompt first type "prefetch" and hit enter. In that folder highlight the first file and then hit Ctrl+A every file will turn blue no hit the delete key and delete them viruses hide in here now go to run again and type "%temp% and go into that folder and do the same thing if a file wont delete skip it. Now if you are on XP all your cleaning tools are under system tools in the start menu. You will see disc defragemntation do a full defrag in XP if you have not done this it will help a lot. It can take up to 6 hours so you may want To start it before you go to bed. now also in system tools you will see disc cleanup do that a nd do that once a week initially it takes like in XP 15 minutes. Providing you are virus and infection free that ought to boost your speed. Oh one more thing free up space on your hard drive by uni-stalling programs you no longer use and go to http://www.piriform.com/ and download CC cleaner select registry and that will safely clean your registry just say fix and delete

    heebus has it covered already ... confusing question with "cleaner" ... I am guessing you mean "infection cleaner"; however, CCleaner is a great "must have program" if you ask me
