Why do football players run into the pile not around?

Question

It's really been getting on my nerves ! I mean their is this big pile of people and then you decide to run right through the
Pile? Does that sound smart? To me no why don't you just run around? Because isn't that the most easiest path ? But no they go into the pile!!! It makes me angry !! I don't ever watch a full game of football but whenever I see one their is always some person running into the pile like right now I an watching the new York patriots vs the Miami dolphins ad this one dolphin Brandon Marshall who ran right through the pile not so far away from the line and guess what?

IT WAS AN EPIC FAIL.

It is not as easy as you think. Keep in mind, the offensive team does not know what the defense will throw at them, on any given play. As a result, the offense will make misreads every once in a while, causing an offensive player to run into a pile of people.

Depends on a lot of factors...He could have been just trying to get a yard or two for the first down.  Also running "around" the pile might not be as easy as you think.
 p.s its the New England Patriots not New York

its hard to go against Walter Peyton, but the most entertaining player of all time is Barry Sanders. he was the only reason to look forward to thanksgiving, that and dry turkey. even with him being out of the game for 5-6 years now, if he came back he would be better than 85% of the starting rb's in the league. i don't have any stats now, but NFL Films has hours of compeling reasons
