98 dodge caravan electrical issues?

We have a 98 caravan that wont start sometimes,even if you let it set for 10 minutes,other times starts good all day.If we jump it the car lights will not come on? anyone have any idea about these problems?

    Check the battery terminal connections... if you see ''green'' stuff around the connections... you just need to buy a battery terminal cleaner (it looks like a wire brush on one end and an internal one on the other) and give it a good scrub. It should be cleaned anyway. Never use water to 'clean' a battery!! Also, follow the ground wire coming off the battery and check to see if it has a good connection to what it's bolted to (either the engine or the body of the vehicle). Test you alternator to see if it is operating properly also. Good luck with everything!! :-)
