At what age should a youth start doing headers?

They are in an 10 and under league, I think that is too young

Heading the ball properly is a basic skill. Young players should learn how to head a ball to build confidence. I grew up in England and by the age of 10 you were expected to know how to head a ball properly.

I used to teach heading to U8 players, although I didn't concentrate on it very much. Heading served more to help players overcome fear of the ball than as a useful skill at that age. As the players became older I would concentrate on it more.

New medical information since those days, however, has made the status of heading for youths more questionable. I think that heading, in moderation and with good quality soccer balls, would still be appropriate for U-10 players
