wow what poor answers ,,ok so everyone is telling you there's more water in the air than you need ,,,,,,,,,so now what ? how much do i have ?? how do i control it ,do i want lower or higher water content in the air i live in ??.

ok so get a humidistat ( table top unit about 10 bucks look on line )

it will give you a comfort zone so you can monitor it ( walking by, you can glance at it )

if you want to raise it ( typically in the winter ) turn on or up the humidifier ......

to lower it (typically in the summe)r ,turn on the A.C. or de - humidifier

if you have a good level of humidity and you still have wet windows ,,then the windows are too " cold " and should be replaced with replacement window's . yes it sounds drastic but this is telling you that the insulative value of your windows is very low ( cold glass cooling off the home ) this is why the humidistat is so important in this issue you want to know what you have not just guess .

new windows today are usually 2 pane sometimes ( if you can afford the initial cost ) 3 pane and gas filled in between the glass ( even more insulative )

keeping your windows open to moderate the moisture , is like taking a shower to wash your hands .

its a total waste of your heat or ac energy cost .

    good luck ~!

You get condensation on your windows when the glass is cold enough to condense the humidity in the inside air. The colder air is, the less moisture it holds.

This also indicates that your windows are not insulating properly and are letting enough cold through to the inside to condense humid air. A window upgrade will reduce condensation and save money on your heating bills. . .a thought.

The only other thing you can do is run dehumidifiers in the problem areas.

The heat and humidity is higher on the inside of your house than outside your window. That usually happens when you arecooking or boiling something - or if you are running a humidifier in the house in the winter time.
