Uncontrollable laughter at just the WRONG time?

Do you have a story about laughing (and not being able to stop) at an inappropriate time? If so, could you please share it? Thanks.

My younger sister and I were bridesmaids at my older sister's wedding. The ceremony was held in a Catholic church - very serious. As I went to stand up from kneeling, I stepped on my "gown" and nearly fell over. My younger sister and I could NOT stop laughing. We did our best to laugh silently, but our shoulders shook and I had tears streaming down my face!

After the wedding, several guests came up to us and told us how touched they were that we were crying at our sister's wedding! To this day, I don't think my older sister knows about this. Could be time to tell her...

I have anxiety problems, and that on top of just being a terribly awkward person makes me being in serious situations pretty much disastrous. I'm not sure why I express my discomfort through laughter, but I do. I can't help it, either. For instance, I pretty much giggled all throughout my grandmother's funeral because everyone was crying. And it's not that I found it hilarious or anything-- it's that other people's discomfort, plus the tense atmosphere of the funeral home, made me react like that.

I remember when my best friend's iPod was stolen (one she worked hard to save up for) she started crying and I started cracking up. I didn't find it funny at all (I KNEW how hard she worked to buy it), but I still couldn't stop. Luckily she was already aware of my...odd tendencies... beforehand so she wasn't too upset. But still.

Another horrible situation was when a member of the Student Government I was in in High School lost his parents 'cause his father killed his wife then killed himself. The head of the SG called a meeting to raise money for the student, and I was pretty much cracking up the entire time in the back. I think people thought I was crying or something, but my close friend knew better and kept on nudging me to stop (as if I could!). I ran out of the room as soon as I can and couldn't look the boy in the face again for months.

    It's really bad.

I also laugh like a lunatic when I get in trouble, so that only adds to the fuel.

I'm sure it sounds funny to some people, but it's really terrible. I've insulted a lot of people through the years unintentionally because of something I can't control.

Yeah, it always happens. I was in assembly at school on far end of one of the rows, and our teacher said something really funny. And everybody laughed briefly but I couldn't stop laughing at the mere visualization of what I just heard. I thought I would get in trouble so I was laughing silently, and every time I tried to stop and looked at my friends face sat next to me I just burst out laughing all over again. This happened too many times to count. It always happens when class is reading some book. Everyone will have moved on and I'll just be there trying not to embarrass myself. It even happened in church once and at night, so it was echoes and an overall serious speech... I can never stop or control it. I always laugh in serious moments too because I get NERVOUS laughter especially if someone tries to flatter me. Sometimes I laugh when I get told off by my mom I don't know why!

There's nothing wrong with you, this happens to me occasionally, I will find myself laughing uncontrollably just sitting there with a friend in the complete silence, I'll even start laughing out of no where when I'm alone, don't worry about it, think of the bright side if it helps, laughing is healthy. =]

My band director has a big box with slits in it. Each slit is labeled with a class period. It's where we return our papers and practice logs and stuff. So one girl had cash and without thinking, she just blurts out, "Do you want me to put this is in period slit?" really loudly. Everyone bursts out laughing, then my director laughed too. Did I mention the principal was there?

Well, I was in a uniformed group in my high-school and we were all at "Attention" at one of the camps where there were people from other schools too.

Then the instructor was calling out people's names and one of the kid's name sounded like the "F-word" and there was a group of us who were trying to hold in our laughter and it sounded like grunts and giggles. XD

It's insensitive, but it was when I was much younger.
