Inversion or stirring?
What's your preferred method of agitation when developing film. do you like to invert the tank or use the swizzle stick to rotate the reel? and Why? What are the differences in outcome?

The best results will come from inversion.
That said, a few manufacturers offered tank/reel combinations that were designed for agitation by twisting a knob that caused the reel to rotate within the tank. Frankly, these were intended for the very basic, entry-level users, and most people quickly move on to invertable tanks.
The problem with agitation by rotation was that it was not truly uniform, and it was possible to get inconsistent processing.

Haven't done it for years so pulling hard on the old memory strings :-)
I used to swizzle! Reasons:
Less chance of foaming of the developer causing air bubbles to stick to the film leaving marks..
Film remains permanently in the developer for the whole time whereas with inversion it is in-out-in-out.
You can keep the tank in the temperature control bath while agitating so temperature remains constant
No sure that my old tank's lid was water-tight enough!!!
