I am getting a message saying that "No network provider accepted the network path"?

When I tried to go a network location, (say \\192.168.0.234) using the run command, My system is windows xp pro. It was working fine for past 5 years, suddenly last week onwards it happened like this. My system is connected in a group of computers in a local network. Could it be blocked by the system administrator?

Ping 127.0.0.1 (the loopback) on your machine and see if it answers. If not, IP has failed on your machine. Reinstall it.

If the loopback answers, ping the host you are looking for. If it doesn't answer it either isn't there any more (address changed?) or ARP has failed on your machine. Rebooting should restet ARP.,

If it answers a ping but won't work as a URL you have host name failure. Check DNS or your hosts file.
