Who here believes that evolution is where monkeys changed into men, or gave birth to them?
Who thinks that the whole idea is stupid? Who believes that evolution is where we come from apes, and then wonder why apes don't evolve into humans?
Recently I had to explain evolution to someone, and I did it in the following way, which I hope makes it much clearer to you guys that still have the wrong idea of what it really is. --- Imagine you have a pack of dogs, same species. The pack of dogs split up, with one pack moving to the mountains, while the other moves to marsh lands. Over time, the packs start adapting to their new environments, with the marsh dogs growing wider paws, stockier build, perhaps even with some webbing between the toes, while the mountain dogs grow longer legs and become lighter in build to suit the rocky terrain they live in. As time goes by, they adapt more and more, to such an extent that when you later on take 1 of each pack and compare them, they differ from each other immensely. (different species)
So what that boils down to is that the one species did NOT give birth to the other. On the contrary - the one pack of dogs had no influence over the other pack at all, since they lived in different regions. They both adapted to their conditions separately, to better survive by hunting / feeding and to avoid bigger hunters than themselves.
Humans and apes are like these two packs of dogs. We started from the same point (long, long ago), but we adapted differently due to the conditions we lived in. Obviously, there's a few more steps between us and the original "pack" (ancestor), but this is pretty put in a way I hope you can understand, to realize that evolution really isn't that far fetched and weird at all.
So we don't come from monkeys, and monkeys did not 'stop evolving' for some weird reason with only us evolving.
So forget the idea that monkeys suddenly gave birth to human like babies by accident, since they had absolutely nothing to do with it. They adapted to life in the trees, while we adapted for life walking on our hind legs, which freed up our hands, which lead to us using tools, which lead to us 'thinking' more and becoming creative, which lead to us using traps to hunt etc etc etc.
Clear?
Therefore, when putting evolution against something like Creationism, there really is only one weird story, not two.
Makes sense?

You're preaching to the choir.
I have always maintained that the most wilfully ignorant, and therefore the most stupid, humans on the planet are those who subscribe to the absurdities called "creationism," "creation science," and "intelligent design."

There are different ways that evolution theoretically happens. They dont necessarily adapt. They could randomly mutate and then the mutations that were helpful for the given environment, just happened to survive. Its called survival of the fittest, or look up "Darwin's Theory." Genetic mutations. Suppose my son is slightly mutated, and you can barely notice it. And then he has a son and so on, after a few thousand years, after many many mutations, my great great etc. grandson could be born with very noticeable changes. My brother, on the other hand, had a son who mutated differently from mine. So his offspring, over thousands of years, mutated completely differently from my offspring. And there we have two very different species. So we and monkeys and gorillas and chimpanzees could have all branched off of one type of ape that no longer exists today. One ape, had a few offspring. Those few offspring had differently mutated offspring and branched off many different species over time. Those species who were mutated in a way that doesnt suit them for their environment died off. You may say, why do different continents have different types of humans... Well, if my offspring and my brothers offspring kept mixing with each other, then my offspring wont really be different from my brothers offspring, because they're all mixed and share the same genes. But if i go to china and my brother stays here, then our offspring wont mix, and my offspring's random mutations will be segregated from my brother's offspring's mutations, so him and i would be ancestors of completley different species down the line of thousands of years, or maybe millions.

Evolution and adaptation are different! The problem is that the word Evolution is being used in the meaning of Adaptation, and this is an incorrect usage!
In the begining, the word Evolution was used to mean that a Species could Evolve into another Species!
Of course this may not happen, so when the Evolutionist started understanding this, it was just convienent for them to then say that Evolution was the same as Adaptation, which it is not!
Each species is controled at staying that species and "ONLY" that species, by the Frequency which governs them!
What allows for the great variance within each species, is the Micronage !
The Micronage is what allows each species to adapt to their environment, thus giving a great variety within each species!
But the Frequency of each species, still prevents any species from Evolving into another species, as was first thought to be the case by the Original meaning of the initial Evolutionist!
So the Evolutionist are just adapting the meaning of the words in a way to try to cover their "BUTT" so to speak, from their initial "BLUNDER" in the begining!

Not me, unless by 'monkey' you mean a common missing link ancestor - if you watch a nature programme naturalist refer to apes as cousins not fathers. Having got to the end of what your saying I see you understand it too.

Yeah... excellent.
Problem - they only believe the people they admire and trust...
The very people who have a vested interest keeping them ignorant...
Cretinists are by their very nature LIARS.
“Dr. Richard Bliss, Curriculum Mgr. for the Institute for Creation Research, got his "doctorate" from an unaccredited diploma mill operating out of a hotel.
Dr. Kelly Segraves, Co-founder of the Creation Science Research Center, says he got his "doctorate" from "Christian University" which doesn't exist.
Dr. Harold Slusher, Co-founder of the Creation Research Society, got his "doctorate" from an unaccredited diploma mill operating out of a post office box.
Dr. Cliffford Burdick of the Creation Research Society got his "doctorate" from another post office box in Phoenix.
Dr. Carl Baugh of the Creation Evidences Museum got his "doctorate" from an unaccredited bible college on the grounds of a church.
Dr. Kent Hovind (Dr. Dino) of the Creation Science Evangelism Ministry (now in prison) got his "doctorate" from an unaccredited mail order outfit called 'Patriot University'.
Fake scientists, fake science”
Judge John E Jones: It is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID Policy.
Will any of that make a difference?
Naahhh... cos they only believe the people they admire and trust...
The very people who have a vested interest keeping them ignorant...

If you watch "story of earth" That will make sence.
At one point it tells you that we became humans because the forest dried out into deserts and they stood up straight because they had to walk further, If your have a religion, Nothing against you but if you would rather believe in god, Something that has NO proof exists over 100% scientific NASA PROOF, Then that's up to you, Check out my question on beliefs.

What the big deal about being descended from monkeys? I love eating bananas and climbing trees.

I have tried endlessly to explain this to creationist, to no avail. I'll check back to see if you had better luck. Perhaps there's one or two with enough attention span to give it an objective reading, I have my doubts.

Have you heard about how God turned men into pigs and monkeys?

You know, normally I'd try to educate you, but you seem kind of dim, so I'm just going to state that I don't see a whole lot of difference between the two species at times, and leave it at that.
