Car batteries: Have you tried the new AGM type to replace the standard lead-acid type?

Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries are now available from the major battery manufacturers and are being sold at auto stores and price clubs etc. They cost more, but may last longer than standard wet cell lead-acid batteries. What brands have you tried and recommend?

Limited space in many racing cars makes AGM batteries necessary. As far as lasting longer the are still lead acid and special charging is necessary to recharge most of the AGM type. I cannot say AGM lasts any longer than a standard wet battery. Because AGM can be mounted sideways I can tuck them in right where weight is needed. Also smaller size and less weight than a wet battery AGM can solve that need to get another 10 pounds out of the chassis.

YES these NEW BATTERIES ARE VERY GOOD AND RELIABLE , die hard makes one ,and if you look on goggle search you will find a dozen more , they are in stock in pep boys and autozone stores, they do cost about 50.00 dollars more however they will hold a charge longer and not need so much attention as an older lead acid type battery. go for it.
