When politicians say they want to privatize Social Security do they consider the survivor benefits part of it?

Part of Social Security concerns both survivor benefits for spouses and minor children. Would a 'private' account include this protection, or would the low paid hourly worker be expected to buy this kind of insurance on his or her own nickle?

A plan that puts 15% of our income in private accounts instead of a government slush fund would be nice . 7.5 % + 7.5% .

@ Gertrude : I guess you must have gone senile because you omitted the worse recessions of Jimmy Carter and the Reid , Frank Pelosi / Obama one of today .

It would allow us to put part of our Social Security in Safe Investments.

It would be a Great Deal for us Working People.

And, yes, it would all be part of the Survivor Benefits.

I've never seen anybody present a comprehensive plan because the idea gets shot down so quickly. I blame old people. They vote in massive numbers and are too greedy/scared to let any changes happen, all the while we are slowly drifting towards oblivion.

Well boys & girls, I am old enough to know what happens to retirement, and pension funds after a recession.

Myself I would much rather not take that risk.

Lived through two of them, the one daddy bush created along with the one junior created.

I wonder if they ever consider if it will still be around by the time I reach that age.
