How to change Dell boot order?
If you also happen to have a Dell Studio XPS (loaded with Win 7 OS) and have figured out how to change the boot order so that it will boot from a CD, please explain to me!
Starting up, F12 gives me "boot options" where I see that the CD drive is listed as #2 in the sequence, but everything I try hoping to persuade it to move up to #1 does absolutely nothing at all!

This has to be done in the bios. You cannot change boot order from F12 only tell it which drive to boot from. You have to hit the F1 or F2 key in dell depending on the model to open the bios then tab over to the Boot tabe and you can change the boot order from there.

To change the boot order:
* Press F2 when the Dell logo appears. Press every few seconds until the message Entering Setup appears.
* Older Dell desktops and laptops may instead use Ctrl+Alt+Enter or Del to enter BIOS.
* Older Dell laptops may use Fn+Esc or Fn+F1.
