Can the Department of Defense 'go broke'?
If 'Social Security' can 'go broke' according to all of the current GOP/Tea candidates, it stands to reason that the Dept. of Defense could go broke as well. Of course that makes no sense as it all. Actually it depends on what we want to spend our money on. I believe that with a little thought we could figure out how to have a decent size defense AND Social Security without breaking the bank. Do we really NEED an 800 billion dollar defense budget? Is it actually justified, or is more the efforts of the military lobby that keeps this alive at such a massive cost?

Social Security is paid for by its recipients, There is a problem when it went from that, to becoming a federal safety net for the disabled, they do not contribute long enough, in most cases to fund the money they collect.
That fund is supposed to grow by interest, so any shortfall in contributions would be covered by the increase via interest.
The Department of Defense is not funded by contributions, its from part of the general tax pool.
And it can't go broke because they can always, bite the bullet, so to speak, and lower their spending in Congress on defense. We really don't need it to be so big, and we haven't needed it for a long time.
The entire system is full of fraud and requirements geared so one particular business qualifies for purchase, and the rest don't. It's a stacked deck and it needs cleaning out.

How do you 'go broke', when you use 'monopoly money'.
Our currency has no real value, we are already broke.
We just print money off for whatever, more wars, just print more money.
The fact of the matter is if we used real currency we would never be able to afford war.
Lets do some real life math. We only have 100 pieces of gold, it costs 200 pieces of gold to destroy a muslim country. We cannot afford to do it.
Now lets do some monopoly money math. We only have -14 trillion monopoly dollars, we need to destroy more Islamic countries, print off 1 trillion more monopoly dollars, or trade monopoly dollars to china for a credit card.

The biggest enemy of America is stupidity.
You cannot defend against that by spending more on guns.
