Nikon D3000 or Canon EOS Rebel XS?
I'm looking for a dslr camera and i've narrowed it down to these two. I currently own a point and shoot so the simpler, the better! I just want your opinions on which one you think i should get. Thanks.

To an amateur, the image quality of the two will be indentical. These are older models, so your local camera shop might not have them in stock, so mess around with the newer models and see which one you like best (D3100 and T3). If the D3100 feels better in your hands, get the D3000. Same goes for the T3 - if it feels better in your hands, get the XS.
