Miniature Dachshund.
I have one, they are VERY cute, lively, such fun little characters and they are super loyal and love their owners.

It depends. Dachshunds are at the top of the bite list in the latest study (1 in 12 has bit a stranger, 1 in 10 has bit their owner). Great little dogs if you get them from a GOOD breeder and socialize them like crazy when they're puppies. BUT they can be expensive because of back problems so you have to be prepared to shell out money for that (1 out of every 4 suffers a serious back injury).

I think min pins are a bit tougher to handle. Both breeds are stubborn, both bark and both are notoriously hard at housebreaking so neither breed wins out there.

I think they both have the same downsides so it boils down to which one fits your lifestyle better with the positives? I would lean toward the Dachshund if you want a dog that is going to sit in your lap. Min Pins tend to be more independent, not cuddly and will be destructive if you don't get them enough exercise. But if you're super active anyway, then they might fit.
