He looks like a nice pony, and I'm happy to see he's in good condition other than the cut.

Honestly, I wouldn't ride him even if he only had the bloody cut I see on his left front, let alone the stitched up cut I can't see on his right front. If the vet came and stitched it, surely he told you to put the horse on stall rest? Because a cut on or near the knee is one of the worst places to get one. Every time he bends his knee, he pulls on the stitches. The skin won't take it; it'll tear and the wound will fall apart again. Just having a bandage over it won't help.

Once you've torn the stitches out, it probably can't be resewn. It'll have to heal on its own. This takes MONTHS and MONTHS, and results in nasty scarring for life.

Your friends aren't jealous of you. They are genuinely appalled that anyone would ride a horse in that condition. You are hurting him. They want you to stop. I'm mad too. I hope they report you to the Humane Society.

  • I don't know, maybe its the "facts" you put in your questions and the way you ask that makes people doubt your validity.

    1. Barbed Wire. You NEVER ever use barbed wire around horses, especially if you are using it as a fence. Its just a magnet that makes horses get injured. So if I were you I would change your fence material immediately.

    2. Lets say when you get stitches to your knees, are you going to go right out and continue to play soccer or run a marathon? Why don't you do that? Wouldn't that be because that would break your stitches and make you bleed in discomfort and pain. You have to take a few days to a week to recover from the stitches you just received and let your wound heal, before you went to doing any strenuous activity.

You should NOT have jumped your pony, why because his stitches are just practically new and any strenuous activity will break them and he will continue to bleed in discomfort and pain.

    3. Its NOT jealousy. Those girls are UPSET. So there is a big difference between the two. They are upset at you because you just continued to ride your pony over the jumps against your vet's advice to let him have a few days to recover in a stall.

My dear your pony is NOT better at the moment because he has an injury. What you need to be doing is leaving your pony alone for a few days and listening to your vet.

Yeah. They're jealous because you're jumping an injured horse in a saddle that's not for jumping when you, by your pictures, shouldn't even be jumping but working on ground work. Yeah, I'd be withering in my jealousy.

Actually, yes, I'm jealous that irresponsible people like you are even allowed to own a horse when there is tons of people without horses who would be able to take care and ride them properly. Or maybe I'm just upset about that.

Get off that pony and get lessons or something. (That is assuming you're not trolling, which is possible- people are pretty..unintelligent)

And for the sake of humoring you and pretending you're not a troll or a stupid person; get off that horse, let him heal up, and take some lessons with a decent instructor, particularly concerning horse care and the like.

Alright, so Im usually not so pissy about this kind of stuff, but this is a moment where I will be. Yes, the pony may seem fine, but do not jump him, he could severly injure himself. Light riding at the max. Also, do not ever drag your horse into drama at a barn, they do not like it. You want to prove he's better, then just ride him. Dont rub it in their face. And another thing, grow up. You're an adult. When I read to post, I though you were 12.

Dont push your horse more than he should be, hes a very pretty horse and im sure you dont want anything to happen to him, so would you rather make him get better faster by not riding/jumping as much with him while his leg is like that or take a chance of him getting more injured and showing off in front of others, dont put your horse in more danger that hes already in. let it take the time to heal, dont push it more than it needs to be let him take a break from jumping and if you insist on riding him only do so maybe once or twice a week! please take my advice and others! good luck(:

Ok first of all clean up your vocabulary (god you say like improperly WHEN YOU TYPE. that's pretty bad). second of all you should not try to prove anything BECAUSE THEY ARE RIGHT. would you like it if you got a gash from barbed wire and someone forced you to run a marathon? no? didn't think so. you're horse probably SHOULDN'T EVEN BE WALKING, much less jumping. Horses are fragile and even small scratches and scrapes can leave PERMANENT scars and damage their jumping ability FOR LIFE (you obviously don't want this to happen since you are so eager to show up your friends). Let it rest for a few days and don't be so stupidly careless about your horse in the future.

What kind of a novice rider are you anyway, I can clearly see that you do not even have a chin strap on your bit?

How stupid is a person who would ride their horse into barbed wire?

I have seen a lot of knee cuts, but I have yet to have known a Vet. that would sew one on the knee???

I feel sorry for the pony, a beautiful one like that should belong to a person who is horse knowledgeable.

at the beginning, do you recognize for a fact that he's referred to you in a bad way, and is your source completely stable??? you recognize that a pair of lips will say something and according to danger, purely according to danger somebody informed you something because of the fact they understand which you like this guy or woman and that they elect to debris that up for you. provide him the earnings, and seek advice from him on a private point to clean this decrease to rubble and pass on with what would desire to probable be your dream guy. solid success

So your horse cut his leg today right?

That makes sense seeing as your Flickr clearly says "This photo was taken yesterday."

Also, I would really enjoy seeing a picture of you jumping in that western saddle :)

    Gorgeous horse. Stupid rider.

you dont mess around with injuries. They were mad for a good reason. They are concerned for your horse health.....You could cause SERIOUS damage to your horses knees.....The knee has stitches in it for a reason....You could easily break the stitches by riding...let alone jumping...

Jumping is incredibly hard on the horses front legs. It puts a ton of strain on the legs. And a ton of pressure on the knees. When the horse has a huge cut in its knee that has stitches in it, its just that much more easy for the horse to hurt its leg.

I wouldnt be surprised if your horse were dead lame tomorrow. cute horsey too....bummer.

Maybe you should take some lessons to- your hands are pulling on the horses mouth, your seat is forward, your heels are up, your leaning too far forward, your gripping with your knee and thigh, and your clenching your seat.

    Good luck!
