fsb:dram ratio question?
I have a E5300 processor with fsb 200mhz. My 2gb pc6400 ram is installed but only running a dram frequency of 333.4mhz. My question is since my ram is able to support 400mhz, why doesn't my pc just use a fsb:dram ratio of 1:2 = 200:400, but instead uses 3:5 = 200:333.4? I assuming that therefore i'm not using my rams full potential.
I'm using an Asrock G41M-S mobo
nvm, problem solved :) i went into my bios n changed dram freq from Auto to 400mhz

This is only what your processor can supports, your motherboard automatically set the right fsb for your processor. Your memory is also can run in multiple frequency. If you want to use another frequency, you can change it in the BIOS but this is called overclocking your processor speed. If you overclock it, you need a good heatsink to avoid overheating or else it will damage your processor.
